Celebrate Memorial Day by ending local collaboration with ICE

Happy Memorial Day,

This is my dad, Alfred Brian Palmer, who did not die in the service of his country (also, he was Australian) but he knew first hand what hell it was to be in prison camp. During World War II, he was imprisoned by the Italians and the Germans, and lost his right arm during one of many escapes. It's from him I learned to be bold.

We are called to be bold now – to stand against fascism in all it's forms, including Berks County's quiet, voluntary and practically invisible collaboration with ICE.

Please join us Tuesday evening for a virtual, one-hour training to End City & County Collaboration With ICE, hosted by the Pennsylvania Immigration Coalition. These are the folks who coordinated efforts to shut down the Berks Family Detention Center, and are helping towns and counties across Pennsylvania prohibit collaboration with ICE. We can win this in Berks! Because not a dime of our tax dollars, not a second of our public servant's time should be spent helping kidnap our neighbors.

This is how we're building our campaign in Berks. With training, a clear strategy, and by showing up for our neighbors, again and again.

💡Our next monthly BOW meeting is on Tuesday June 2 at the UU Church, 416 Franklin Street in Reading, 7-9PM

Peace be with you. -Jane
